The Story of Steve Vai and Ibanez UV777 

 

Steven Siro Vai(born June 6, 1960) is an American guitarist, songwriter and producer who has sold over 15 million albums. After starting his career as a music transcriptionist for Frank Zappa, Vai recorded and toured in Zappa's band for two years, from 1980 to 1982. He began a solo career in 1983, has released eight solo albums and won three Grammy Awards. He has also recorded and toured withPublic Image Ltd., Alcatrazz, David Lee Roth and Whitesnake. Vai has been a regular touring member of the G3 Concert Tour G3 which began in 1995. In 1999 Vai started his own record label Favored Nations.

 

The Ibanez UV777 belongs to Ibanez Universe, which  is the world's first modern, commercial seven-string electric guitar. The Universe is a seven-string version of the Ibanez JEM series. It slightly differs from the JEM due to the absence of a "monkey grip" cut-out handle on the body. UV777 is a Universe series electric guitar model and a seven-string signature model of American guitarist Steve Vai. It was introduced in 1991 with a green finish, one year after the introduction of the UV series. In 1998, a new Universe was introduced as the UV777 in the USA. In the rest of the world including Japan it is known as the UV777P. That is namely the masterpiece what we replicate.

 

 

As astounding now as it was when it came out, Steve Vai's Universe cuts no corners on tone or looks. Abalone disappearing-pyramid fret marker inlays; a mirror pickguard; Vai's "Light without Heat" pyramid logo below the bridge; plus full body, neck, and head binding provide staggeringly fabulous looks. Our UV777 guitar is beautifully made from the basswood body to the 5-piece maple/walnut neck. They are in accordance with the original UV777. The contoured basswood body with 24-fret Prestige JEM neck provides easy access to all registers. Basswood is a comparatively lightweight wood, which makes it very comfortable for extended playing. With a good balance of highs and lows, basswood is right in between alder and mahogany in sound character.

7-string allows almost effortless transition from 6- to 7-string techniques.
