About James Burton

Born on August 21, 1939 in Minden, Louisiana, James Burton is a legendary American guitarist and member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, with his family in 1949. A natural guitarist without professional training, Burton started playing seriously by the time he was thirteen years old and a year later was hired to be part of the staff band for the enormously popular Louisiana Hayride radio show in Shreveport. A Telecaster player, while still only fifteen, Burton played on Dale Hawkins 1957 hit song "Suzie Q," a record that would become one of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. Burton has played for numerous important musicians including early work with Rick Nelson between 1958 and 1965.

About the original James Burton Pink Paisley Telecaster

Fender released a limited run of guitars with a Paisley Finish in July 2012. In the past Fender have released a Pink Paisley version that was made famous by the guitarist with Elvis Presley's backing group in the early 1970's, James Burton. James is probably most well known for playing this guitar. In 1969, James got a call from Fender, telling him they had a guitar that was screaming his name. When he was performing with Elvis, James was a little hesitant to play the Pink Paisley on stage, because he thought that it looked too bright. But he was pushed by Elvis’ “guys” on stage so he did and Elvis loved it. Emmylou Harris would sometimes play one of James’ Telecasters.

About our custom made Pink Paisley Telecaster

The  Pink Paisley Telecaster is a very famous guitar in history, not only because of its beautiful pure handed painting, but also because it was played and favored by the legendary American guitarist James Burton. A customer wrote to us explaining he wanted the shape and light weight of a Telecaster body and loved the pink Paisley finish Crook Custom Tele Guitar style guitar. As a result, our expert luthiers spent long time searching the original materials and background information, and finally recreated the guitar with their exquisite craftsmanship and attention to details. Detailed information of this Pink Paisley Telecaster can be seen in the following pictures.

This custom made  Pink Paisley Telecaster features a maple telecaster headstock equipped with six chrome grover tuners, just as the original one. But one point we have to emphasize is that we use decals instead of printing the logo on the headstock, which is in accordance with the requirement of our customer. We have to point out that printed logo is certainly available.

The original Pink Paisley Telecaster features maple neck with 21 Frets and a Scale Length of 25.5", all of which are strictly followed in our replicated guitar. So as the bone nut and white pearl dot inlays. But we use select rosewood to take the place of the original maple fingerboard, which is fully in accordance with the demands of our special customer. Of course, other fingerboard wood options are also available.

This Pink Paisley Telecaster features a V profile maple neck. The body construction is bolt-on construction fixed with four bolts on fender’s typical plate.

Our custom made Pink Paisley Telecaster features the same telecaster alder body painted with Pink Paisley finish as the original guitar. James Burton first thought that it looked too bright but fell in love with the guitar after playing it on the stage. Other features include 1 Volume, 1 Tone and 3-way Switch, giving the guitar a beautiful appearance against its bright Pink Paisley finish.
