Description

Teardrop Bass Guitar

This Teardrop Bass Guitar will be 100% handmade by our highly skilled craftsman!

Vox manufactured their first guitars and basses in 1962. The 1963 "Teardrop" bass had two single coil pickups and a round snap on back pad. Pickup selection was controlled by a rotary five position switch.

Vox retired all of their "Phantom" and "Teardrop" guitars and basses at the end of the 1968 model year. No Vox basses were produced in either the "Phantom" or "Teardrop" body styles for the following 44 years. The "Phantom" and "Teardrop" style body shapes were reintroduced to the Vox line in 2012 with the release of the Vox "Apache Series" travel guitars and basses. The Teardrop Bass Guitar (shown above) was introduced by Vox in 2013. It shared the basswood body and 21 fret maple and rosewood neck with the Apache 1 bass. The Tear Drop Bass eliminated the one watt battery powered amplifier, pick guard mounted speaker and drum box from the Apache 1 bass in favor of a second single coil pickup, dual volume controls and a tone control. The Apache 1 bass and the Teardrop Bass both shared a 30" (762 mm) scale length.

The Teardrop Bass Guitar was manufactured in China. And it's lucky for you that it's available from us now, and for a reasonable price to build a Teardrop Vox Bass replica in any of color(3-Tone Sunburst, Seafoam, Salmon Red, White, etc). Email us for any questions about the bass.
