Vox Mark III Guitar

Rare Electric Guitar

About The Original Vox Mark III Guitar

The guitars are Original, but they can be 100% handmade by our highly skilled craftsman!

As a brand, Vox has a special place in the heart of British guitar heritage. Its amps, which provided The Beatles' backline and went on to power the subsequent British Invasion, are its best-known legacy, but Vox was no slouch in the guitar department, either.

Tom Jennings, the man behind Vox, wanted to build a guitar line that would compete with American made instruments. He commissioned the London Design Center to come up with an idea for an electric guitar that did not resemble any guitars available at the time. They came up with the Vox Phantom. Jennings introduced this in his 1962 catalog. Within a year Jennings had another unique instrument on his hand called the Mark III or Teardrop model. The Vox Mark III Guitar had a lute-shaped body and the prototype came with two single coil pickups and a Bigsby style bridge unit.

The 1998 press release from Korg USA introducing the American made Vox guitar reissues read as follows: "In the '60s,Vox crafted a line of distinctly designed, beautifully detailed electric guitars. Vox is now proud to present Vox Mark III Guitar replicas of these models recreated with original details using the same unique parts." Vox's main goal is to offer products of the finest quality, so they have improved the playability and specifications over those of the originals to satisfy today's demanding musicians.

Sculpted of poplar bodies with maple necks and rosewood fingerboards. The Vox Mark III Guitar, is constructed in the U.S.A. With sleekly styled fittings, like Bigsby tremolo systems and chrome knobs and original style pickup covers, they look as good as they sound. The droplet shaped Mark III comes with two single coil pickups and is available in two models one with a fixed bridge and the other with a Bigsby tremolo system. Colors available are red, black, ocean green as shown above, please tell us which color you prefer for your guitar.
